A Chat with Alexej Pikovsky, Co-Founder and CEO at Alphagreen: A Marketplace for CBD, Alternative Healthcare & Wellness Products

Alphagreen Group is an e-commerce platform and technology provider focused on CBD and other alternative health products. It operates Europe’s leading platform for CBD and provides a comprehensive marketplace for consumers and brands in the wellness and beauty sectors, offers trustworthy and effective CBD products for the relief of mental and physical ailments, and is expanding into other niche industries such as medical cannabis and nootropics.

Alphagreen was founded in 2019 and was born out of a passion for health and well-being, combined with technology and innovation.

Alphagreen was developed by entrepreneurs Alexej Pikovsky and Viktor Khliupko to simplify the entire CBD and alternative health product experience on every step of the consumer journey.

We spoke to Alexej to find out more …

How did you come up with the idea for the company?

In 2019, I spent 3 weeks traveling around Canada and California to meet key players in the cannabis industry. From growers to suppliers, D2C brands, B2B sellers, investors and venture capital firms. I wanted to get into the industry because I wholeheartedly believe in the potential of the cannabis plant and its constituents like CBD, THC, CBN, CBG, etc. – I believe in the therapeutic and medicinal benefits because I’ve experienced them with friends and family , and I also believe in the consumer goods market.

When I returned to Europe and continued my industry research, I started brainstorming with my good friend and now co-founder and CTO, Viktor. Not only did I want to make another CBD oil, I wanted to bring to life something that I thought was missing in the market, something that consumers needed and wanted, and it became very clear to me what that missing link was – to easy to use platform that provides all information about the industry, CBD and cannabis and offers the best brands and products from all over the world.

How has the company performed during the pandemic?

We started our growth spurt in March of last year (2020), shortly after the market launch, and have been uninterrupted since then. Thanks to our remote work setup, we didn’t have to rearrange or adapt our workflows when the pandemic broke out, which allowed us to really focus on our original goal: to become the UK’s leading marketplace for CBD. It took us about six months to achieve this goal thanks to our dedicated team and the super effective content and link building strategies that drove traffic to our website.

It was this SEO and rapid scaling expertise that allowed us to gain real competitive advantage in the industry and cement our reputation not only as a trustworthy marketplace but also as serious players after we started NUOPTIMA, a company joining the fast growing company with our digital marketing and e-commerce services.

In less than two years we have raised nearly £ 4 million; we’ve gone from five full-time employees to nearly fifty. We created a think tank that includes doctors, investors, influencers and the UK’s leading cannabis lawyer, created a digital services agency and also launched our own branded products. We do our best to take advantage of all opportunities that arise.

What can we hope for from Alphagreen in the future?

Alphagreen launched localized domains in several countries this year: Germany (including Austria and Switzerland), France, Italy, Spain and Japan. We will also introduce Hong Kong and Portugal this year to reach more overseas customers.

We are constantly improving our marketplace design and functions; We have just launched our loyalty rewards program and will be launching our first non-CBD direct sales brand that will focus on adaptogens and nootropics. More news will follow.
