Open Recruitment for Mindfulness-Based Resilience Training Workshops for Frontline Health Workers and Law Enforcement PersonnelMORGANTOWN — Frontline Health Workers and Law Enforcement Personnel are recruiting 200 frontline health workers and law enforcement personnel from West Virginia to participate in Mindfulness-Based Resilience Training (MBRT). The two-day training will help to improve mental and physical well-being along with preventing compassion, fatigue, burnout, and attrition.

Participants may include foster care families, social workers, child protective services personnel, case managers and coordinators, emergency services personnel, behavioral health personnel and law enforcement personnel.

Training opportunities will be held at Martinsburg Blue Ridge Community and Technical College on March 21-22 and April 21-22.

There is no cost to this training, and all meals and materials will be covered. The only cost is your time and willingness to participate. Participants will need to work with supervisors to allocate time to participate.

SCH expands free community COVID-19 testing

MARTINSBURG — Shenandoah Community Health is expanding its free COVID-19 community testing hours. The PCR test is now available through the drive-thru testing tent on 99 Tavern Rd., Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm with no appointment or order.

This service is available to SCH patients and non-patients, and results are received directly from the lab, typically between 24-48 hours.

Free National Diabetes Prevention Program setWINCHESTER, Va. — Valley Health is offering new sessions of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, a free, 12-month class designed to help adults who are at risk for developing diabetes and are ready to make lasting lifestyle changes. One group will meet virtually on Mondays from noon-1 pm, while the other will meet in person at Warren Memorial Hospital on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 pm

To be eligible for the National Diabetes Prevention Program individuals must be overweight, not have a diabetes diagnosis and have one or more of the following: elevated blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, family history of diabetes, being physically inactive and history of gestational diabetes.

Living Well chronic disease self-management program, register by March 4

MARTINSBURG — Living Well Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a free six-session interactive workshop designed to help individuals coping with one or more chronic diseases learn to take day-to-day responsibility for their care, increase the skills necessary to manage their disease and work effectively with their health care professional.

This chronic disease self-management program is being offered via Zoom so participants can join from the comfort and safety of their own homes. The virtual program includes the same content offered during the traditional in-person workshops. The next session begins March 7 and will be held each Monday from 1-3 pm through April 11.

Living Well is free and open to those dealing with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, anxiety, depression, chronic pain. Caregivers are also encouraged to attend.

Good Samaritan Free Clinic schedule

MARTINSBURG — Good Samaritan provides free health care to the uninsured and underinsured. The main clinic is at 601 S. Raleigh St., Martinsburg. They do not take appointments and provide family practice care at all the clinics except women’s health evening.

Hours for the clinic are:

• Wednesdays at 5 pm

• First Tuesday of the month at 5 pm

• Women’s Health Clinic on the third Tuesday at 5 pm

• Rescue Mission every Monday 10:30 am-Noon.
