Here’s How Functional Mushrooms Helped My Mind and Body

We’re constantly bombarded with the benefits of including CBD in your wellness routine. Whether it’s CBD oils or gums, the world is obsessed with all things cannabinoids.
Why we can’t take the potency of CBD away from you, we should also point out that there’s a new wellness ingredient in town and, frankly, there’s just something magical about these functional mushrooms.

What are functional mushrooms?

There are thousands of species of mushrooms, and the edible mushrooms are believed to provide benefits beyond just meeting nutritional needs. In fact, these mushrooms are believed to offer functional benefits, including improved immune health, less stress, and higher energy levels.

Although I’ve heard of functional mushrooms, I’ve never had the chance to try them. Fortunately for me, the South African brand Good mind™ paved the way for my journey with functional mushrooms.

Goodmind uses a mix of three different types of in its products adaptogen Mushrooms: Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Reishi. The products are available in capsule form and it is recommended that you take 2 of them daily with a meal.

It has been found that these mushrooms benefit the body in many ways. So what effect did they have on me?

I was less scared

Given the times we live in coupled with endless work schedules, being me is quite stressful. Hence, I am always interested in new methods that can alleviate my anxiety and I have clearly found one.

A few days after I started taking the capsules, I quickly realized that I wasn’t as anxious as usual, especially after stressful situations. Granted, I still had concerns, but the feelings of fear that often accompany them were no longer as present.

Perhaps I had started to understand my fear better, but research suggests that the fungi could be to blame. According to a to learn published in Biochemistry and Biophysics Reports, Reishi may aid in the treatment of anxiety and depression.

I was more focused

Given my job, I have to be able to stay focused all day. Unfortunately, my concentration span needs some work. Now imagine my surprise when I realized I was paying more attention to my tasks.

Studies have shown that the lion’s mane help protect against cognitive decline, especially those associated with Alzheimer’s. While my age is currently keeping me at risk for neurodegenerative diseases, it is clear that the mushroom capsules have a lot of intelligence to offer.

I had more energy

Does sugar give us energy? No, they are mushrooms.

In addition to my improved focus, I also noticed that I had a lot more energy than usual. This may have to do with the fact that my anxiety was not keeping me under control, but it could also be because Cordyceps has anti-drowsiness effects (1).

Nonetheless, with my increased energy levels, I was fit in my fitness, which in turn helped me stay healthy.

What’s the verdict?

As I said, there is something magical about these mushrooms. They improved my focus, energy, and anxiety, which in turn improved my overall health
