According to Fox, his training has changed little since he left the military. What has changed, however, is the role fitness plays in his life.

In the same interview, Fox explained how he trains – both while he was with SBS and now that he’s back on Civvy Street. He also shared his go-to workout, which you can find below.
Fox’s SBS training
Fox already played sports and exercised before joining the military, but selecting special forces requires an entirely different level of fitness that he explains most people are unable to achieve.
“My course started with 350 guys and ended at 13. Everyone has the opportunity to take on the challenge, but the first step is the hill stage where you essentially spend four weeks walking up hills at 70 pounds (32 kg) in Wales “Equipment and a gun. Most people are either injured or self-checking,” Fox said.

“[We did] everything from tractor tire flips to breeze block carriers. A lot of rope climbing, ladder climbing – big lifts – pull-ups I love it, it’s the ultimate. Everyone had their own interests in a particular style of fighting, so often we would build our own dojo out of mats and we would all teach each other. As you would expect from Special Forces soldiers, fighting was not for the faint of heart and the basic goal was to get the job done as quickly as possible.
“A lot of it is pretty gross,” Fox said, “pretty handy but dirty to get things done quick. Techniques like pressure points, grips, that kind of thing. Then the guys want to learn other things like karate, Thai boxing or whatever, and they go and learn it alone or together, as we did. “
How Fox trains now
Fox’s current education hasn’t changed too much since leaving SBS: He still enjoys being an all-rounder – in terms of fitness – and he’s still focused on developing “all-round fitness”.
“The course to get into the SAS is very endurance based, but when you actually get into the SAS it’s all because it’s such a multifunctional job, because you jump walls, climb ropes, run, walk, everything, which is why CrossFit is a great platform to get fit for the military as it encompasses that, “said Fox.
“I still train the same way, it reminds me of the old days. I switch it up regularly – CrossFit, HIIT workouts, a bit of weight training, running, biking … I keep chopping and switching, “he explains.
“I like CrossFit, it fits an intense schedule perfectly. When I’m not doing CrossFit, I do my own HIIT workout, which is basically CrossFit without the rigid plan. Since I get bored really quickly, it’s good to just do it always trying to do different things like cycling, running or rowing. “

If he can’t get to the local CrossFit box, Fox will rush into the following four-movement workout, based on his favorite exercise: the burpee.
“I love the burpee because he’s a real bitch. I love short, sharp workouts, and I have a workout that breaks down each stage of the burpee,” said Fox.
